Autocraft EV Solutions Launches REVIVE® Vehicle Workshop to Deliver End-to-End Sustainable EV Battery Repair

Autocraft EV Solutions, part of the Autocraft Solutions Group, has officially opened its new REVIVE® Vehicle Workshop in Long Bennington, Lincolnshire, UK, marking a significant expansion of its capabilities in electric vehicle (EV) battery repair solutions. The facility conducts and co-ordinates the battery removal from the vehicle, full battery repair, reinstallation and delivery back to the dealer.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Mike Hawes OBE, Chief Executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), alongside industry stakeholders, partners, and OEM customers. The opening of the REVIVE® Vehicle Workshop represents a major step in addressing one of the key challenges facing the transition to electrification: the efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable repair of EV batteries.
Speaking at the event, Mike Hawes said:
“This facility is an innovative response to one of the headaches of the automotive industry; how to deal with batteries are prematurely faulty, potentially damaging confidence of consumers but, through repair and remanufacture, preserving the life and health of battery and vehicle. As such it gets to the very heart of what the industry is trying to be; sustainable.”
The REVIVE® Vehicle Workshop introduces a comprehensive, door-to-door EV battery repair service designed to simplify the process for OEMs, dealer networks, insurers and customers.
Vehicles are collected directly from dealer sites and transported to the Long Bennington facility, where the battery is safely removed. The failed battery is then sent to the Autocraft REVIVE® EV Battery Workshop in Grantham, where it undergoes advanced diagnostics, repair, or remanufacture before being returned to the facility in Long Bennington for reinstallation into the vehicle.
This seamless process enables customers to hand over the keys and receive the vehicle back fully repaired, reducing complexity, cost, and downtime while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
The model supports a circular economy approach to EV ownership, prioritising repair, reuse, and remanufacture over battery replacement, helping to reduce waste and the need for new raw materials. In nearly all cases, battery failures stem from individual cells, modules or supporting systems rather than a fault with the entire battery pack. With Autocraft’s OptEVizer® diagnostic and testing software built into its REVIVE® Battery Workshops, it is possible to identify the root cause of failure, replace only the affected components and restore a battery to more than 90% of its original performance.
The launch comes at a critical time for the automotive industry as it accelerates towards electrification and Net Zero targets. While EV adoption continues to grow, concerns remain around battery longevity, cost, and sustainability.
Facilities such as Autocraft’s REVIVE® Workshops are designed to address these challenges by extending battery life, improving cost efficiency, and building confidence among consumers and industry stakeholders.
The point at which an EV becomes the cleaner option, the carbon break-even point, typically comes between 20,000 and 55,000 miles, depending on the model and size of battery. Through industry leading work with academia via RECOVAS, it has been calculated that each large 82 kWh BEV pack remanufactured using Autocraft’s REVIVE® processes saves around 12 tonnes of CO₂, the equivalent of seven flights from London to Sydney.
Mike Hague-Morgan, Executive Director & Co-Owner of Autocraft Solutions Group, commented:
“We need to recognise that simply recycling failed EV battery packs and replacing with new is neither sustainable nor environmentally responsible. As the number of electric vehicles on the road continues to grow, battery failures will inevitably increase – particularly as systems age and performance declines over time. However, the majority of these batteries can be brought back to a high standard, which makes repair the most practical and sustainable solution. Our new REVIVE® Vehicle Workshop will now make it quicker, easier and cheaper to get the customer’s car back on the road.
Since 2020, Autocraft has successfully repaired and returned 92% of the batteries it has received back into service. Although these units experienced premature failure, the results clearly show they were far from reaching the end of their usable life. In that respect, EV batteries are no different from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles, where engine faults are repaired rather than scrapping the entire engine, or even the vehicle.”
The new workshop is part of Autocraft’s broader strategic growth plans, with ambitions to expand its REVIVE® offering across international markets. Hague-Morgan concludes:
“Today’s opening marks a very positive step for expansion in the UK, but it is part of a much greater plan as we expand initially in Europe and then globally over the coming years. We must get the message out there that most EV batteries can be repaired instead of being prematurely recycled. While recycling is good, repair and remanufacture is the best!”
Alongside its UK operations, Autocraft is progressing with international growth plans. Following the success of its facility in Arnhem, Netherlands, the business intends to expand its battery servicing model across Europe, with the next site scheduled to open in Sweden in late 2026 to support key OEM customers.
