Autocraft Celebrates World Quality Week 2023

Building on the huge quality successes achieved in Autocraft’s annual ‘Quality Month’ in June 2023, Autocraft Solutions Group is proud to support #WorldQualityWeek2023.

Between 6 and 10 November, organisations from across the globe will unite to celebrate. This year’s theme ‘Quality: realising your competitive potential’ is especially important to Autocraft. We’ve been on a digital manufacturing journey over the past 8 years with the introduction of our unique Augmented Reality Interactive Assembly (ARIA®) technology, which incorporates camera systems, light projection and TPS tooling to provide our customers with OEM standard, ‘no-fault-forward’ quality assurance. We have introduced this technology on our engine assembly and remanufacture lines, in E-motor remanufacture facility and also in our EV battery repair centres.  ARIA® is one of the main drivers behind our growth from a £7m to a £100m+ company today!

With ARIA®, each process is guided by the system, and the torque and angle of each fastening is recorded to our Cloud database, with any ‘NOK’ pausing the process until correctly rectified. ARIA® eliminates human-error and provides full traceability, meaning quality can be guaranteed at every step. Products can be built in batches of one due to our lineside kitting tray fulfilment, and operator training times have been reduced from 6 months to just 2 weeks with ARIA®.

During World Quality Week 2023,  Autocraft will be building on the successes of June’s Quality Month which focused on the theme “3 Seconds for Quality”.  ‘Toolbox Talks’ were delivered by a range of staff from the HSQE and Operations departments, and ‘Good News Bulletins’ were distributed showing where faults were caught and stopped before they became an issue, many of these were a direct result of the Toolbox Talks. A poster campaign provided education on Quality Gates and ‘Stop-Report-Fix’, and ‘Spot the Issues’ posters had employees scrutinising labels, work areas and parts coming in from our supply chain.

Competitions were run during the month, with both individual and team prizes being awarded, and a scratchcard prize system rewarded employees raising issues under the ‘3 Seconds for Quality’ initiative.
